Pit Lane Productions’ Managing Director Andrew Marriott has just returned from yet another Le Mans 24 Hours where he worked as one of the pit lane reporters for the American Speed Channel.  The Fox owned station coverage extended to some 14 hours .

Explained Andrew, “It’s not only a tough call for the drivers but also the TV crew. Speed has a “talent” group of eight with four of us assigned to pit lane reporting. Brian Till, Chris Neville, Justin Bell and myself all spent about eight hours in the pits.”

“But what a great race with the Audi and Peugeots so closely matched. I was working the French end of the pits so was right there when the French cars started to hit problems . My second stint started at 3 am – which is prime time in the West Coast – just as the race was swinging in favour of Audi.”

Andrew is very much a Le Mans veteran having first reported the race for Motoring News back in 1965. “I keep getting asked how many Le Mans I have reported “ he said “but the truth is that I am not sure because I missed a few in the 1970s when the race clashed with the Canadian Grand Prix. But I’ve certainly done them every year since about 1978 – so its well over thirty.”

It was Andrew’s third major sports car race for  Speed this year – he was also in the pits for the Daytona 24 Hours and the Sebring 12 Hours
